A still life is defined as "a work of art depicting mostly inanimate subject matter, typically commonplace objects which are either natural (food, flowers, dead animals, plants, rocks, shells, etc.) or man-made."
The still life depicted in this gallery have been crafted by nature. Leaves swept by streams of wind then caked in dirt. Stones moved and polished by currents of rushing water. or by contrast the sad wanderings of a transient person. Each leaf, rock, or scrap of trash tells a story of how it arrived at that place at that moment when I came across it. Often these delicate compositions are more intricate than any still life I could construct.
